Ugh, it's always, always, ALWAYS hard to motivate myself to work on a Monday. It only works when I know someone else is depending on me to help them with some work, otherwise, it's a horrific display of laziness on my part. Exemplified even more by this blog post. And it's not even 11 am yet!
To make things worse, in terms of motivation and work to be accomplished, the boss heads out around noon ... doh! Ah well, I'm sure some productive things will be accomplished, but I'm not sure what they are just yet.
So now for a quick weekend recap:
It was nice to have a relaxing weekend where I didn't have too much planned, and was able to have some quality 'me' time, mostly on Friday night. I then woke up late both Saturday and Sunday to either read or play Trauma Center, which was fantastic. I went to hang out with Sharona on the Commons, and headed to various bookstores and such, picking up a book of clarinet solos, which will hopefully motivate me to play more, and a book on energy healing. I felt like such a townie, but it was a good type of feeling. I'm so ready to be out of the undergrad environment, it's not even funny. The night was spent running some errands with Corey and watching Sweeney Todd, which I highly recommend to everyone. We then geared up for a dance party sponsored by CUGSA, and danced like idiots for a few hours, surrounded by practically naked men and women, glitter, neon laser lights, a cross-dressing host, etc. It was fantastic, and really made me miss my Desire class from last semester.
I found myself in an interesting situation at one point, where I found someone I knew at the dance. I went to give him a firm handshake, but he made the motion for a hug. I obviously went for the hug afterward, but it was the first time (that I can remember) I found myself in that position. I'm usually the one who goes for the hug at all times, and the recipient extends his hand, but then settles for my hug nonetheless. It was strange to be on the other side of things, and slightly awkward, but I laughed it off nonetheless and gave a firm, hearty man hug. I hope that if you, dear readers, find yourself in this situation (with me), you're able to laugh it off too. Don't be awkward ... that's just silly.
Sunday was spent listening to Cornell's Symphonic Orchestra, featuring the amazing percussionist, Matt Whaley. Though I miss the craziness that Dr. Turner and her Wind Ensemble brought, it's nice to hear ensembles in concert every now and then. The night was spent with a nice dinner and dessert followed by Settlers of Catan with Corey, Matt, Don, Sharona, and Eric. If you've never played it, get on that. It's highly competitive, at least when I play, and loads of fun.
Good times this weekend ... next weekend, I'll be visiting Timmy and heading up for a Drum Corps camps ... which means I need to practice sometime this week. Doh!
