I had another awesome dream last night. It was an RPG consisting of a 6-8 member team. It reminded me of FFV, or FF Tactics, if you've played those before. The dream was ridiculously elaborate, and the setting was picturesque beyond belief - prettier than World of Warcraft scenery (only because it seemed more real). I woke up from it around 5am and wanted to write everything down, but I didn't have the motivation to get out of bed and fetch a pen and paper. Maybe I'll start leaving writing instruments on my nightstand like I used to do. Regardless, it was action-packed, full of clever puzzles, and involved a lot of dungeoneering and questing.
The weirdest part was that I wasn't a charater I would normally play in an RPG. I was one of the 'chosen heroes,' of course, but was nothing but a regular human with no combatative or magic skills present. Enter, Matt, the BeastMaster. Go figure, right? But first, a little intro.
Before setting out on our journey, we were all contronted with a series of flying demons/witches in a small forest clearing with some farms nearby - think human starting area in WoW, with less forest. I'm pretty sure either Corey or Sharona was a mage, but I don't remember who else was what class, sadly, but I'm pretty sure Don, Eric, and Tim were also in there. Anyway, as the battle progressed, this large black wolf came out from one of the nearby farmhouses, and I felt immediately drawn to it. I wasn't doing anything useful to help combat the enemies, but felt like I could if I just followed this wolf. It was quite fierce-looking, as if ready to tear my throat out, but instead, it went for a few witches instead. After two or three pwnings, it ran up to a wooden porch of a house where Matt was standing in a leather vest, worn brown pants with a gray shawl with hood around his shoulders. It seemed he was commanding this wolf, and a few other animals that I hadn't noticed in the fray. Upon meeting eyes, he simply nodded at me gently, and blinked once. At this, it seemed that the black wolf had a plan of its own and acted on its own accord. This led me to run for my life thinking that the wolf was out to kill me. I ended up being tackled to the ground at the base of the porch stairs and was staring straight into the eyes of this wolf. I was initially fearful, but upon gazing into the wolf's eyes, I saw a reflection of myself, and felt a strange connection to this animal. It was then that I no longer saw the reflection of myself, but found myself looking through the wolf's eyes. I somehow became the wolf and was able to wreck house in animal form.
I then followed the rest of the adventures through castles, caves, and other places to defeat the evil plaguing the land. I was in animal form the whole time, later realizing that my potential was not as a physical human fighter, but as a kindred spirit to the animal world with the power to merge with this beautiful black wolf. It wasn't an act of shapeshifting, but becoming one with this creature, who I grew to love and treasure as a friend. In the end, we reached the last dungeon and found the object that had been stolen by some evil force and peace was restored, and I returned to human form, but kept my wolf with me after the journey had ended. C may be right ... closet furry? >_< No ... I just want a doggie companion. I blame Matt and his influences.

oh SNAP, he found his fursona!
ReplyDeleteI would say you should get one for your apartment but I don't think the cute clause includes grown black wolves.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to detect a pattern in your dreams ... are you not playing enough video games during the day, or are you playing too many? It's pretty interesting that you instantly identified what could have been any kind of a fantasy setting as RPG.
